UW Professor Allison Prasch Discusses the Debate, the Election, and Po...

The already tumultuous 2024 Presidential campaign took another dark turn on September 15th, when the FBI reported an apparent assassination attempt on former President Trump at a golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.  Police apprehended a suspect, identified by CBS News as Ryan Wesley Routh, shortly after the incident.

This marks the second attempt at Trump’s life and highlights the tension and fear surrounding what many have described as an existential presidential election for the United States.  The latest incident comes on the heels of the first – and perhaps only – debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Allison Prasch, professor of rhetoric, politics and policy with the University of Wisconsin – Madison, visited WORT studios to tell host Brian Standing how this presidential campaign affects undecided voters, and how new voters, her own students, experience the impact of this campaign season.
