Voter Suppression Hitmen

A new threat to our voting rights is afoot as right-wing extremists are using existing state laws to challenge the voting rights of hundreds of thousands of legitimate citizens in an attempt to get them expunged from the voter rolls.  A new documentary film by investigative journalist Greg Palast, Vigilantes, Inc., that chronicles this attempt to suppress the vote will be shown this evening, Thursday, October 17, 7:00 pm at the Barrymore Theater.  Greg talks about the film with the 8 O’Clock Buzz crew, and about this tactic that was last used by the KKK in 1946 to suppress the voting rights of predominantly minority voters in the south.  He encourages everyone to check the website, saveyourvote.org, to verify that you haven’t been challenged without your knowledge.
