Violence interrupters can serve an important community role by de-escalation of crises before they become violent, according to Jose Santos Moreno, Director for Justice at the Friends Committee on National Legislation. But right now, Federal funding for these programs is at risk as Congress is set to recess for the holidays without an agreed-upon budget for the new year.
