Wells: Venture Capitalist Investment in Nursing Schedule Apps Threaten...

Senior Fellow at Groundwork Collaborative, Katie Wells, has recently co-authored a study “Uber for Nursing: How an AI-Powered Gig Model Is Threatening Health Care” in which she interviewed “on-demand” nursing staff and relates the effect of “Wall Street’s takeover of US health-care infrastructure and Silicon Valley’s introduction of gig nursing apps are a dangerous duo that is eroding our health-care system and eviscerating our ability to take care of each other.” Wells says that this limits worker rights, including schedule control of their hours, risks to worker and patient safety, poor orientation of staff, and more.
