In his first week in office, President Donald Trump has signed a flurry of executive orders seeking to end birthright citizenship, end refugee admissions, declaring a national border emergency, authorizing the U.S. military to patrol the U.S./Mexico border, reinstate the “remain in Mexico” policy for asylum seekers and perhaps most chillingly, declaring immigration “an invasion,” opening the door for massive arrest, detention and deportation. Not surprisingly, the immigrant community remains on edge, fearing any knock on the door that could be from Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
