A recent report from NBC News, citing administration immigration officials, claims that President Donald Trump has expressed anger that more migrants haven’t been deported in the first few weeks of his administration. Meanwhile, perhaps in an effort to catch up to Trump’s campaign promise of deporting “millions and millions” of people, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have broadened their dragnet. I.C.E. agents have interrogated and harassed Navajo Nation citizens and have detained Puerto Rican citizens at their workplaces in Newark, Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Here in Madison, labor and immigrant rights group are teaming up to train workers how to defend their rights. Issy Bilek is an organizer with the South Central Federation of Labor.
