For over seventy years, the Benedictine Sisters of the Holy Wisdom Monastery in Middleton, Wisconsin have sought to heal their corner of the earth. From dredging agricultural sediments out of Lost Lake to maintaining acres of prairie, the Benedictine Sisters have sought to build a refuge from the troubled world.
On the last Wednesday in February, Monday Eight o’Clock Buzz host Brian Standing joined volunteer seed planters working on restoring a three-acre oak savannah, one of Wisconsin’s most endangered ecosystems. He captured the sounds of humanity restoring nature.
Brian Standing, wearing head phones, captures audio of the a Seeding the Savannah blessing.
