Oracular Studios Presents “12 Angry Jurors”

WORT 89.9FM Madison · Oracular Studios Presents “12 Angry Jurors”

Back in 1954, at the height of the paranoia and suspicion of the McCarthy era, television screenwriter Reginald Rose received a summons from the New York Court of General Sessions to serve as a juror in a manslaughter case.  Impressed by the deliberations of his fellow jurors, Rose wrote “12 Angry Men” for CBS’ Westinghouse Studio One program.  The television program caught the eye of Hollywood actor/producer Henry Fonda, who went on to star in Sidney Lumet’s 1957 film production for Orion Pictures.  The film garnered several Academy Award nominations and is now in the National Film Registry.  The film’s themes of righteousness standing against a mob mentality continues to resonate with modern audiences, and the film has enjoyed many adaptations for the stage.  Madison’s Oracular Studios is putting on a new updated production, now titled, in keeping with modern gender-inclusive juries “12 Angry Jurors.”  Director Michael Kelley and actor Dillon Sheehan, who plays Juror #7, joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing on January 5, 2026.
